Test Day Tips
- Avoid anything caffeinated after 12:00 p.m. on the day of your test (coffee, tea, pop, energy drinks, chocolate, etc.)
- Avoid alcoholic beverages the day of your test
- Do not take any naps prior to your sleep study
- Try to maintain your normal daytime routine and avoid any unusual physical activity
- Avoid heavy make-up, hairspray, hair oils or products such as conditioners, Vaseline, styling gels, etc. as these can interfere with the recording
- Wake up early on the day of your study to help make sure you are ready to fall asleep when the test begins
What to Bring
- You may bring your own pillow (some people sleep better with a familiar pillow)
- Your daily medications and any over the counter medications you may need, i.e. antacids. Make sure to bring enough to take them on your usual schedule
- A two-piece comfortable sleeping outfit
- A change of clothes for the next morning
- Money for the vending area or newspapers
- Toiletries or personal hygiene items, i.e. soap, shampoo, deodorant and toothbrush.
- Please leave all jewelry and watches at home
- Photo ID and insurance card(s)
- A book or something to help you relax before falling asleep
