The 19th Annual Update in Headache & Pain Management: A Review Course for Clinicians will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at The Henry in Dearborn, Michigan. Based on past conference attendance, it is expected that approximately 500 healthcare professionals will attend. The purpose of the symposium is to address expressed and demonstrated educational needs of physicians and other health care professionals who evaluate and treat patients in pain at the primary care level.
The program is organized by MHNI and co-sponsored by Michigan State Medical Society and Michigan Pharmacists Association and is approved for 8.0 hours AMA PRA Category 1 creditsTM and ACPE credit.
The program will focus on clinical knowledge, with an emphasis on clinical perspectives and treatment strategies for commonly encountered painful disorders.
The program targets neurologists, general and family practitioners, internists, dentists, pain anesthesiologists, psychologists, physical therapists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses and pharmacists. Content is designed to benefit a broad range of practitioner experience levels, from beginner to advanced.
Special topics include headache treatments for patients with contraindications, school avoidance, chronic pelvic pain, TMD and orofacial pain, Borderline Personality Disorder and chronic pain, new pain management treatment options, and new opioid DEA guidelines. An expert panel will highlight challenging clinical cases and include a highly topical discussion of dilemmas presented by drug-seeking patients and the use of opioids for non-malignant pain.
Numerous opportunities for question and answer sessions with the faculty lend immediacy to the program. Additionally, attendees are invited to bring their own cases to present before the expert panel.
